The Honda Civic WTCC will debut a new image at the Goodwood Speed Festival. The Japanese brand has partnered with the Jean Graton Foundation to provide an artist design and participate in the FIA World Touring Car Championship ‘Art Car Contest’ competition, and nothing better than a Graton artwork. The image of the car was designed by Dominique Graton, Art Director of the Jean Graton Foundation, and Philippe Ghielmetti, and is inspired by Jean Graton’s most famous creation: Michel Vaillant. The artist created this comic book cartoon character in 1957, and who came to be a ‘cult’ character. The Honda Art Car Jean Graton, as it will be called this exclusive Honda Civic WTCC, will feature a design inspired by the Michel Vaillant Art Strip ‘A Fond!’, Where Michel Vaillant describes himself chasing a Ferrari through the Monaco tunnel during the 1974 Grand Prix The car will be displayed inside the F1 Paddock in Goodwood State, near Chichester, UK. Followers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite design through social networks and the web. The winner will be honored at the closing ceremony of the Goodwood Speed Festival 2016. 2016 – HONDA CIVIC COUPE
Honda unveiled some official images of the new Honda Civic Coupe that was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The announcement that the new Civic Coupe was to be shown in LA was just under a week ago, so the production model may come sooner than anyone imagines. In aesthetic terms, the new Civic does not follow the most aggressive lines of the concept revealed in New York. The small mirrors disappeared just like the lush front grille. However, the brand promises that on the date of its launch to the market in March 2016, customers will be able to prove the high sports content of the Civic Coupe, which does not compromise the interior space. In mechanical terms the Civic Coupe will be equipped with two engines, which according to Honda, guarantee more power and greater efficiency. The least powerful engine is a 2.0 i-VTEC of 158 hp announcing a mixed consumption of 15 km / l. Coupled to this engine comes a six-speed manual transmission. On models with higher equipment level, the present engine will be the new 1.5-liter direct injection Turbo with 174 hp. Honda also bets on the expansion of the standard equipment, with the top-of-the-line version, called Touring, including automatic LED lights, rear LED lights, bi-zone automatic air conditioning, electric parking brake, heated seats, rain and 7.0 inch screen with Android connectivity system.
2016 – HONDA CIVIC COUPE RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS
The Honda Civic Coupe for competitions is now ready to debut at the Red Bull Global Rallycross, which will have its first race this year on May 21 in Phoenix, Arizona. This championship has been causing a furor in the United States. The Red Bull Global Rallycross is a competition where races are played on mixed terrain and asphalt circuits, where spectators can very comfortably see the car’s evolutions and skidding. In this championship participate models such as the new Honda Civic Coupe, Subaru WRX STI, Hyundai Veloster, Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Fiesta ST. The new Honda Civic Coupe Red Bull GRC will be a brutal car with a maximum power of over 600 hp, total traction and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h completed in 1.9 seconds. Of course your suspension is prepared to be subjected to jumps and all kinds of stunts. The Honda Civic will be driven by Swedish Sebastian Eriksson and Finn Joni Wiman. “Global Rallycross is an excellent platform to show the new Honda Civic Coupe to the younger crowd,” said Nick Lee of the American Honda Motor Co.
2016 – HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK CONCEPT
Featuring a look very similar to the one that went on sale in the United States at the end of last year, the concept of the new five-door Honda Civic for Europe reveals dynamic and robust lines, with production version expected to be virtually identical. With Honda betting on a global strategy for new products, and in particular for the new Civic, the concept reveals an image very close to that of the American model, with a prominent chrome grille, sharp headlights and sporty appearance. However, from the B-pillar to the rear, the differences are more evident in relation to the sedan and the coupe, although there are obvious points of contact, such as the shape of the taillights. The new Civic Hatchback will be 30 mm wider, 20 mm lower and 130 mm longer than the current generation.
Moreover, as it is a concept, it appears with a more sportive and aggressive appearance, noticeable, for example, in the large wheels and in the bumper with larger air intakes, elements that may not be part of the production model. However, the exhaust in the center position seen in the concept is also found in the model that is in development tests, so the concept may show a version sportier than Type-R. For this, it could count on a less powerful version of the same engine, that is, a 2.0 Turbo VTEC block at a more contained power level (around 230/240 hp), while the more sporty of the line would have the same 310 hp of the model currently on sale in Europe and Japan. They are already confirmed the engines 1.0 and 1.5 (both turbo), first with power in the order of 120 hp and the second with versions of 150 or 160 hp. Like the current model, the new five-door Civic will be produced at the Swindon (UK) factory in Britain and then exported to other global markets, including the United States, in a return to that country. Daisuke Tsutamori, leader of the 10th Generation Civic Project, commented on the aesthetic aspect of the car and left an idea of how this different design was conceived and implemented: “We knew we would have to create an appealing exterior design and stand out from the others, conventional style of the European compact car, while remaining true to the core values of the original Civic, ie a combination of sporty character and a different design, combined with outstanding driving dynamics and practical versatility. “
2016 – HONDA CIVIC SEDAN
The new Honda Civic Sedan 2016 was introduced in the US. This is the tenth generation of the vehicle and the Japanese brand says it will be the most ambitious in the model’s 43-year history. Honda intends the Civic to be a global model and soon will join the sedan a coupe version, a high-performance Si, a five-door hatchback and for the first time a Civic Type-R for the American market. The new Civic Sedan is a project that starts practically from scratch. It now features a redesigned design that is based on the Honda Civic Concept prototype, and also features a new chassis, new technology and new line of engines. In terms of its dimensions, it is now a little wider and lower, thus achieving a more muscular image and a sporting aspect. In this model the torsional stiffness was improved by 25% thanks to the use of high strength steel, which made the model 30 kg lighter. Its aerodynamics were revised to improve its effectiveness by 12%, this was achieved by covering the lower part of the body. Another of the improved aspects was the driving position, which has now become lower. The 2016 Civic Sedan will be offered in the US with two engines. On the one hand we have the aspirated DOHC i-VTEC 2.0 liter that will equip the Civic Sedan LX and EX. It will develop 160 hp and comes coupled to a six-speed manual transmission or CVT automatic continuous drive. On the other hand the Civic Sedan LX-T, EX-L and Touring will be equipped with the first turbo engine offered by Honda in this country. It is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 175 hp and will be offered only with the CVT automatic transmission. The interior is now more spacious and looks more premium. Regarding the equipment, highlight the new touch screen of 7 inches. Connectivity is also an important factor for the model and so it will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In the upper finishes, it counts on bizona climatizador, electric parking brake, besides adjustable benches and with heating. In terms of help in driving, the Honda Sensing package is offered, which includes systems such as the anti-collision wizard, track unintentional shift detector and adaptive cruise control with the congestion function. The new Honda Civic Sedan 2016 will go on sale in the US in October.
2016 – HONDA CIVIC TYPE-R CONCEPT
One of the novelties of the Paris Salon 2016 is this Honda Civic Type-R Prototype, a conceptual version of the Japanese sports compact. It was already known that the tenth generation of the Honda Civic would be one of the great protagonists of the event, but no one had this surprise guest. The most likely is that this prototype is anticipation and a production model that will arrive in 2017. The truth is that the new Type-R comes out spectacular with an attractive and somewhat sinister appearance. The black color with the red details that decorate your body accentuates your sportiness. It has huge bumpers that differentiate it from the standard model and features 20-inch wheels fitted with wide wheel arches. The rear benefits from a large rear airfoil and a new diffuser that integrates three exhaust ports. Carbon fiber is the predominant material in this Civic Type-R Prototype. Although images of his interior were not yet disclosed, sportsmanship is also expected inside, with sports seats and other specific elements. One of the details kept secret is its engine. Honda has yet to comment on that, but is expected to use the current 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. Although this mechanics can surpass the current numbers, reaching around 320 hp. We will have to wait to know the model that will hit the streets, at least until the second half of 2017. What seems clear is that the production model will not differ much from this Honda Civic Type-R Prototype. It will also be produced at Honda’s Swindon (UK) plant exclusively for the whole world, as well as the normal Civic.
2016 – HONDA CIVIC SEDAN BLACK PACK EDITION
Honda has just introduced the Civic Black Pack Edition, an optional package of equipment that will be available only in Australia. The tenth generation of the model will go on sale in that country only next month, but Honda already offers buyers more customization options with the addition of this optional package for the Civic Sedan. As its name suggests, the Honda Civic Black Edition Edition will feature a series of black details that affect the 17-inch wheels, front splitter, grille, side skirts, rearview mirror housings and rear aerofoil. On the other hand, the package is available for the five finishes of the Honda Civic in Australia: VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L and VTi-LX, for a price of 2,998 Australian dollars, something around 7,700 reais. The Honda Civic Sedan’s RS trim already features a number of exterior sporting details, but the Black Pack Edition is also available, although its price is reduced to A $ 2,298. This is due in part to the fact that this version already has a black front grille and a black rear spoiler, so it would not make sense to pay for something that is already included as standard.
